Enter the Principality of Asturias and visit Nava, a cider town of world reference where the Cider Museum is located. The surroundings of this town are composed of ancient palaces and magnificent landscapes such as the Sierra de Peñamayor . You will continue with your bike through Infiesto, an Asturian village with a wonderful natural environment enjoyed by its people. There, the Natural Reserve of Piloña stands out, full of mountains, forests and hidden valleys full of color.

Further on, you will cycle to Arriondas, starting point of the International Descent of the Sella, where the famous event of Les Piragües is held. A few kilometers away you will reach Canga de Onís, cradle of the reconquest and gateway to the Picos de Europa.

Halfway through the tour, you will be able to relax on the fine golden sandy beaches of Colunga. Take strength to drive to the town of Villaviciosa, known for its gastronomic offer, or the Ñora Beach, which has white sandy areas and pools suitable for swimming. There, you will also find the Ría Nature Reserve , considered one of the best preserved and most environmentally valuable estuaries on the Cantabrian coast. Finally, you will finish the route in Gijón, capital of the Costa Verde, where you cannot miss Cimadevilla, an old fishermen’s quarter with a classic seafaring atmosphere.

In addition to all the places mentioned above, the Tracks Astures has part of the route along the Camino de Santiago and the roads of Covandoga.

Tracks de Astures, a route for lovers of tough challenges

Ready to combine nature and sport? Now we tell you how your circular route through Asturias will be and some tips that you should take into account.

This route has a distance of 213 kilometers and 5500 meters of accumulated elevation gain. To do the route you will need a rigid bicycle and versatile tires, as it is an area with a lot of vegetation and fairly closed trails where trails and tracks abound, both uphill and downhill. Depending on one’s technical skills and strength, the route is 95% cyclable.

The best time to do this route is during the summer and autumn seasons since temperatures are more pleasant. Even so, a large part of the route is in the shade, on trails and ambush paths, which will allow you to pedal comfortably.

Thinking about how many stages to do the tour? We offer you the possibility of doing this route in 3, 4 or 5 stages, depending on your personal situation. For the more adventurous, we have the option of three days of riding with about 70 kilometers per day per stage. However, we recommend you to do this route in 4 stages so that you can enjoy it to the fullest. And finally, we have the five-day alternative, suitable only for experienced bikers.

Remember! It is a self-guided and non-competitive tour; the important thing is to enjoy the landscape of Asturias, take the opportunity to learn about its history and traditions.

In all stages you will pass through one or more villages, where you can stop and take a break. In addition to discovering small charming places, you will be able to taste its gastronomy and the best Asturian cider.
