Aran MTB Tracks

Tracks Aran is a route in stages for mountain biking in the Val d’Aran that will guide us, through forest tracks, to discover the secrets of this beautiful Pyrenean region. An itinerary to be done in 3 or 4 days.

DESCRIPTION

Tracks Aran by MTB is a circular route in stages for mountain biking in the Pyrenees. A spectacular route that will allow you to discover the beauty and landscapes of the Val d’Aran while cycling. The route will take you through the main valleys that make up the region, as well as its outlying areas (Port de la Bonaigua). It is a very complete and intense route due to its variety of landscapes, impressive forests and its combination of terrains, as it allows you to enjoy the great Atlantic forests and, at the same time, the Romanesque architecture, the landscape of a valley with an Atlantic climate and a more than renowned mountain gastronomy. Cycle above 2000 metres above sea level over terrain that you will not find anywhere else on the Iberian Peninsula. This trail version of the Tracks Aran route is physically demanding due to its distances and gradients, but technically simple, as 64% of the route runs along forest tracks and paths.

Ideal bike: Any mountain bike (MTB). The choice will depend on your priorities: less weight (rigid bike) or greater comfort and enjoyment of descents (full suspension bike). The ebike option is growing rapidly among users.

Tyres: Versatile tyres are the most appropriate, as there are many different types of terrain (rock slabs, paths, steps, tracks, loose stone sections, cobblestones, singletracks…). It is an area with a lot of vegetation and quite closed trails: the local bikers use tubeless or inner tubes with liquid sealant.

Orientation: Self-guided route with the help of a GPS, non-competitive and a great way for MTB enthusiasts to enjoy themselves. With a variety of landscapes between mountains, valleys and rivers, good gastronomy and the culture of the territory.

Best season: From 15th May to the end of October (depending on snow conditions). July and August check hotel availability.

Type of paths: The climbs are comfortable and cyclable, almost always on paths. On the descents there are plenty of trails and not very technical trialeras. But if you have a more technical or enduro profile, don’t worry, the route has very good trails and specific areas for MTB, some technical, others not so much. The route is 100% cyclable. However, the technique of each person is always decisive when it comes to follow or get off the bike at a certain point.

Philosophy: It is a self-guided and non-competitive route; the important thing is to enjoy mountain biking in its purest form.

Luggage transport: Considering the technical nature of the route, it is highly recommended to hire this service. The price depends on the number of people and stages of the route.

Mechanical assistance: The organisation offers a support service en route.

Refreshments: In all the stages you will pass through one or more villages where you can stop to eat and drink water. However, the refreshment service can be hired.
